Certified Healthcare Business Consultant (CHBC)
A Certified Healthcare Business Consultant (CHBC) has demonstrated an understanding of the total healthcare business environment — both practice and financial management.
If you are not currently a member of the Society, you must submit an application for membership in order to be eligible to enroll in either of the Certification Review Courses.
Certified (CHBC) Members must maintain 30 hours of Continuing Education (CE) over two years to maintain their certification. During each two year reporting period, at least 12 hours must be acquired from a NSCHBC sponsored meeting or webinar. Click here for a copy of the CE Policy that became effective July 1, 2018.
Reporting NSCHBC Sponsored CE
For NSCHBC Meetings, CHBC Members must complete the Continuing Education Form that is distributed to indicate the sessions attended to calculate CE hours earned. These CE hours will be automatically added to the CHBC Member’s record.
CHBC Members who would like to earn CE hours for attending a NSCHBC Webinar, either by attending the live Webinar or by watching the recording, must purchase the credits and complete the form to add the CE hour to the CHBC Member’s record.
Reporting Non-NSCHBC Sponsored CE
CHBC Members may achieve the additional 18 CE credit hours from Non-NSCHBC sponsored CE sources. All Non-NSCHBC sponsored CE must be reported using the online form. Documentation must be retained by the CHBC Member for at least three years after program completion.
Why be Certified?
The CHBC designation shows potential clients, vendors, and others that the holder has met certain standards of experience and knowledge.
The certification course and exam are intended for seasoned business healthcare consultants who have a strong grasp in all areas listed in the CHBC Core Body of Knowledge, through several years of experience in the field.

Review Courses and Exam
While you may pick up some tips to better your skills, the review course is designed to expand on the core body of knowledge you have already gained thus far in your professional career. This is not a course on how to become a healthcare business consultant. Interested students should review the Core Body of Knowledge that is covered in the exam.
The Certification Examination is a 4-hour, online exam consisting exclusively of multiple-choice questions. The questions have been developed to examine the knowledge and application of principles that are applicable to both medical and dental practices.
